About Assistant Principal Academy
The Assistant Principal Academy serves participants in the Northeast Florida region and is a state approved academy that provides professional learning to participants who are either new to their administrative position or were selected by their district executive leadership staff to participate. These participants will receive Florida Level II Principal Certification upon successful completion of all academy requirements.
The Assistant Principal Academy is a rigorous
instructional program designed to provide multiple opportunities
for assistant principals to expand their knowledge and skills to
become viable candidates for the position of principal.
Selection Criteria
- A completed Assistant Principal Academy Registration Form
- A narrative writing sample based on a given prompt
- Ability to commit one full year to the program
Who Is Eligible?
- Newly appointed assistant principals for the current school year
- Selected current assistant principals
Goals
- Prepare participants with critical leadership standards, core values, knowledge and skills that all leaders must possess as schools move from change to sustainability

Provide participants with relevant and meaning professional learning to achieve and demonstrate competency in all Florida Leadership Standards with particular emphasis on: Instructional Leadership, Decision Making Strategies, Community and Stakeholder Partnerships, and Vision
- Prepare participants to fulfill the responsibilities for the position of principal/instructional leader
