About Instructional Technology
To communicate, motivate and engage today’s students, teachers must integrate an array of multimedia, Web 2.0, and other technology tools into their curriculum. By learning and applying instructional technology strategies, teachers can develop an exciting and engaging learning environment. Professional learning activities offered through the Instructional Technology Program are aligned with the National Staff Development Council’s standards for staff development, and the National Education Technology Standards.
Instructional Technology Professional Learning
The Schultz Center for Teaching and Leadership currently offers the following instructional technology face-to-face workshops:
  • Climb Aboard and Blog (3 hours)
  • Story Telling with Photo Story (3 hours)
  • Making Movies with iMovie (3 hours)
  • Creating Podcasts with GarageBand (3 hours)
  • iTunes and iPods (3 hours)
  • Photo Sharing with Web 2.0 Tools (3 hours)
  • Digital Video in the Classroom (3 hours)
  • Podcasting for Teachers (3 hours)

The Schultz Center for Teaching and Leadership currently offers the following instructional technology online courses:

  • Podcasting in Education – Introductory Course (5 weeks)
  • Podcasting in Education – Intermediate Course (5 weeks)
  • Podcasting in Education – Advanced Course (5 weeks)
  • Digital Story Telling (3 weeks)
  • Bells and Whistles (3 weeks)
  • Digital Writing (3 weeks)
  • Going Global (3 weeks)
  • Spreadsheets Count (3 weeks)

For the Participants
Instructional Technology participants will:
  • Discover ways to use multimedia and technology tools to promote higher-level thinking and problem-solving
  • Identify and learn ways to teach students 21st century skills which they will need to succeed in the workplace
  • Explore different technology tools and learn to use them effectively in the classroom
  • Learn to integrate technology into instructional best practices
Goals
  • Provide teachers with the knowledge and skills needed to help their students become capable users, information seekers, problem solvers, and decision-makers in the 21st century
  • Develop strategies for teachers to use technology tools to enhance learning, increase productivity, and promote creativity in the classroom
  • Develop strategies to facilitate the use of technology based on the instructional objective(s) being taught
  • Motivate and engage students through the use of technology to impact student achievement
