TEACHER INDUCTION PROGRAM (DUVAL ONLY)
About the Teacher Induction Program
Since its inception in 1999, the state mandated Teacher Induction Program (T.I.P.) has supported teachers in demonstrating competency in the The Twelve Florida Educator Accomplished Practices comprised of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed by all teachers to effectively support school achievement. Although the state-approved program outline has remained the same, materials and processes have been updated frequently to more effectively meet the needs of the novice teachers.
For the Participants
T.I.P. will:
- Assign a mentor who is skilled to coach, support, and guide the development of the novice teacher
- Provide a resource team to assist in the completion of this program
- Support the novice teacher’s professional development plan that targets the areas of need
- Provide support from representatives trained to assist novice teachers
- Provide a manual that guides the novice teacher through T.I.P.
- Provide opportunities for further teacher growth through professional development that is specific to the needs of the novice teacher
Goals
The goals of T.I.P. are to:
- Increase student learning by providing supervised support services for teachers during the first year of teaching in Florida
- Assist in continuing professional development for novice teachers
- Meet the requirements of the Florida Statutes
